Canada is increasingly looking across the Atlantic as its relationship with Washington becomes more complicated. Ottawa is moving closer to the European Union, with both sides now speaking about a “unique alliance.” “We are seeing more and more initiatives bringing Ottawa and Brussels closer together,” says Bernhard Otterstein, President of the Polish Canadian Chamber of Commerce, in TVP WORLD.

According to Otterstein, this growing partnership is built on existing frameworks such as CETA, while discussions are now expanding toward what many describe as “FTA Plus.” At the same time, he stresses that Canada’s closer engagement with Europe does not mean abandoning trade relations with the United States. Instead, it reflects a strategy of diversification aimed at reducing dependence on a single market and strengthening cooperation with trusted partners.
