The PCCC was proud to participate in the first Grand Speed Business Mixer which took place in Łódż on 6th March.

The event was the first of its kind bringing together members of nine bi-lateral chambers of commerce for the opportunity to present their companies and build networks.  The main organizer of the evening was the Łódż Special Economic Zone who hosted the meeting in the beautifully restored Grohman factory buildings.

The first part of the evening include three rounds of speed mixing followed by a networking cocktail for all participants which numbered over 160.

The Winter Reception was held at the Canadian Embassy on 4th February, with the theme Winter Olympic Games.

In conjunction with the Embassy of Canada, the PCCC held the Winter Reception at the Embassy on 4th February, with the theme Winter Olympic Games.  After a short introductory welcome by Ambassador Alexandra Bugailiskis, the guests were addressed by the Associate Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Canada’s G8 Sherpa, Mr. Peter M. Boehm.  Mr. Boehm briefly covered issues including the new bilateral trade agreement, the Winter Olympic Games, and the bond between Canadian and Polish Governments, business and individuals.

Following Mr. Boehm’s presentation, Mr. Tomasz Lisiecki (President of the PCCC) thanked the sponsors of the event.  The sponsors included Apotex, Bireta, Miedzi Copper, Perła and Vac Aero.

Tomasz also recognized new members to the PCCC including Citibank, Dentons, E&Y, Mielżyński Wine, Spirits and Specialties, Redknee, Sandoz and SNC Lavalin Polska.

About 120 guests attended the function and were treated to sumptuous food provided, once again, by “Why Thai” restaurant.

As usual, the evening was a lively gathering of the Polish and Canadian business communities and guests.

The PCCC Christmas Business Mixer was held on December 18th in the Beaver Club at the Canadian Embassy.

As well as regular members, members of the Skandinavian-Polish CoC were also invited.  Short presentations were made by Michael Miasek (Vice-President PCCC and President of Vac Aero), Rouslan Kats (Trade Counsellor, Embassy of Canada), Kari Vahaangas (Head of Trade Centre, Finpro, Embassy of Finland), and Carsten Nilsen (President SPCC).

The number of attendees was slightly down on the same event last year, probably due to the last-minute Christmas rush and the need to complete as much business as possible before the end of the year.  However on the plus side, that meant that those who did attend were able to come back for seconds, even thirds, feasting on the delicious food provided by Why Thai.

The Board of the PCCC would like to wish all Chamber members, their employees and their families a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.  We look forward to working with all our members and other Chamber of Commerce “families” during 2014.

The PCCC was pleased to co-organize a Speed Business Mixer on 20th November, 2013 together with the AHK German, Spanish and Belgian Chambers of Commerce.

The evening was well attended with over 100 companies participating in the lively networking program.  The event took place in the grand Sala Kilińskiego at ul. Miodowa 14 and was opened up with a presentation by Rodl & Partners, the main sponsor for the mixer.

Following the speed networking was a mixer where participants were able to follow up on contacts made earlier and to enjoy traditional Spanish tapas and wine.

The 2013 Canada Day Picnic took place at Golf Parks Poland in Wilanów on 30th June.  Despite the chilly weather, a warm crowd of over 150 people gathered to celebrate Canada’s national day.

We were pleased to welcome Colonel Daniel Geleyn, Defence Attache, who represented the Embassy of Canada.  All guests enjoyed a barbeque, mini-golf, mini-soccer, crafts and face painting, and rousing entertainment from Klaun Kluseczka.  The afternoon was topped off with sunshine and the Canada Trivia Quiz with a special focus with questions on Canada’s arctic.

The PCCC were delighted to host a business reception at the Art Hotel in honour of the Ambassador of Canada to Poland H.E. Alexandra Bugailiskis’ visit to Dolnośłąsk.

Included in her itinerary were visits to Canadian firms Bombardier and Redknee, as well as to KGHM’s headquarters in Lubin.

In attendance at the evening reception were Vice Governer of Dolnośłąsk, Ewa Mańkowska and Vice Mayor of Wrocław, Adam Grehl.  We were also pleased to host representatives of Pratt Whitney Kalisz, Hatch, a Canadian engineering and construction management firm, and Acana, an all-natural petfood business.

We are very grateful for support from Bombardier Transportation and Mielżyński Wines for helping to make the event a success.

A successful 2nd edition of the new format Speed Presentation Night took place on 6th June at the Beaver Club of the Embassy of Canada.

The evening opened with a line up of 10 companies each making three minute “speed” presentation.  We were pleased to have members of the Small, Medium Enterprise group of AmCham join us as presentation makers and audience participants.  A prize draw was won by Areta Kempińska, Partner of Bireta Translations, who was awarded a gift bag from Air France/KLM by Marcin Gielnik.

The formal part of the evening was followed by food served by Why Thai Restaurant and Canadian wine by the Embassy of Canada.

The PCCC joined forces with the Scandinavian Chamber of Commerce to hold its 2013 golf tournament at Sobienie Królewskie outside of Warsaw on 18th May.

The day’s activities included a tournament for seasoned players as well as an academy for novices.  The event was rounded out by a barbeque and awards gala for the best results.  Congratulations to Michał Poniz taking the prize for best player of the tournament with a par +3.

Our International Spring Business MIxer took place at Mielżyński’s All Around Wine on 10th May, 2013.

We were delighted to welcome HE the Ambassador of Canada, Mrs. Alexandra Bugailiskis as well as the Board Members and Executive Directors of our fellow IGCC chambers (International Group of Chambers of Commerce- Amcham, Belgian, British, Dutch, French, German, Irish, Italian, Porturguese, Scandinavian, Spanish and Swiss).  Our host, Mr. Robert Mielżynski, introduced our guests to a special wine tasting in superb garden surroundings that was followed by a jazz concert and barbeque.

A prize draw was held with Anna Kaniewska, Country Manager Golder Associates, taking home a chest of wine and other fine food specialties.
